The Jade Hair Straightening Brush* is a dual voltage hair straightening brush and is from a brand called Irresistible Me, who specialise in 100% natural hair extensions, hair accessories and hair tools. I've heard about these brushes before and as someone who has naturally wavy hair, I was curious to see if they would work. Here are my thoughts:

The brush comes with a really handy booklet which I, of course, read beforehand as I wanted to make sure I was using it properly for this review. For example, it tells you which temperature you should set the brush according to your hair type, and how to change the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius. It also gives you some tips for straightening, in order for you to achieve the best results.

The brush is quite light and comfortable to hold in your hand. The rotating cord also makes it easy to use as it doesn't get tangled when you're moving the brush around. However, the most important thing for me is the anti scald teeth, as I'm always burning myself on hair tools; my right thumb has just recovered from a pretty nasty burn I got 3 weeks ago, from picking up a curling wand from the hot side - oops! Luckily, the teeth prevented me from getting any burns.

It took me quite a while to straighten my hair, as I felt the 'bristles' were not really getting to the roots of my hair. I did section off pieces of my hair to see if this made any difference, but I still wasn't getting those perfectly straight results hair straighteners would give me, as you can see from the before/after picture. I felt like this was due to the fact that it was impossible for the bristles to come into contact with every single piece of hair. Having said that, if you prefer more 'natural' straight hair as opposed to the pin-straight look normal straighteners would give, this would be perfect for you! The brush also tames frizz and gives your hair shine, which is a nice bonus.

Irresistible Me also promises that the Jade Brush will result in 'no hair damage'. However, as I was straightening my hair, I noticed that a lot of my hair was breaking away. I wasn't sure whether this was due to the heat breaking my hair or the brush just getting out already broken hair, as this sometimes happen to me. Therefore, when I tried straightening for the second time, I made sure I had thoroughly brushed my hair beforehand. Even so, this made no difference and I still found myself losing quite a bit of hair, despite also spraying in some heat protector.

Overall, I have very mixed thoughts about the Jade Hair Straightening Brush. Unfortunately, I was not really impressed by the results that it gave, as my hair was still slightly wavy after straightening for quite a while. I was also concerned with how much hair was breaking away during the process, which has made me a little hesitant to use them again.

Having said that, the product is very easy to use. The brush heats up very quickly, has several heat settings for all hair types, and it's universal voltage allows it to be used outside the USA. Depending on preference, you may even like the not so pin-straight look, so this could be perfect for you! In theory, a straightening hair brush is a great concept, so with a few refinements, I think the Jade Hair Straightening Brush has potential.
