Recently, I have been increasingly interested in going cruelty free with my beauty products as harming animals for the sake of our beauty is something I consider unnecessary. Initially, I thought that it would be hard to find products and when I did, they would be expensive, but this is not the case! Contrary to my belief, there are so many affordable brands out there who are cruelty free, such as Sleek and Makeup Revolution. Since Superdrug had one of their 3 for 2 deals the other day, I thought it would be a great excuse to pick up some cruelty free products.

1) Sleek Matte Me - Birthday Suit (£4.99)

I've been wanting a Matte Me lip cream for a long while now, but whenever I have gone into Superdrug/Boots, they have always been completely sold out. Fortunately, they were available online so it was the first thing that I made sure went into my basket. Birthday Suit is a really nice (slightly dark) pinky nude, and applies really smoothly in just one coat. It has a long and thin applicator, which I thought would be really awkward to use, but I found it okay. As far as matte lip creams go, it also sits pretty comfortably on the lips.

2) MR Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer - Rebel (£3)

Rebel is a really nice deep berry colour, which is my favourite to wear on my lip. I haven't tries applying this one on yet, but if it's good, I can see myself wearing this a lot. However, as it isn't such a summer colour, I'll probably have to wait until Autumn to get some use out of it, or when I go out in the evenings.

3) MR Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer - Vamp (£3)

Velvet is quite an adventurous colour for me, as it's a really dark purple. Not going to lie, I bought this in mind for Halloween (organised, I know) and probably won't be using it for much else. As it was such a 'out-there' colour for me, this was the first I tried out of the lot and I have to say, I'm disappointed. When applied it was quite patchy, and dried into an uncomfortable texture; it was sticky but also started to flake in some areas?! Perhaps, it would be better over a lip liner and being blotted, but that just seems like too much effort.

What are some of your cruelty free recommendations?
